Who We Are
In 2008 Charles Walker, and a group of committed Jesus followers, felt compelled to form a community for people who don't go to church as well as for people that attend but are tired of church politics or hierarchy. The Oasis is focusing their efforts on growing a church for people who say it's too boring, too political, or just not relevant to their stressed-out, hectic lives. People sometimes say, "Why bother? There are plenty of churches in West Michigan." Our answer is the same, again and again; "People are thirsty, even if they don't know what they are thirsting for!"
The Oasis Church is going to meet people in their comfort zone with Biblical teaching and messages that deal with their everyday obstacles, hopes and griefs. And we're going to communicate using ways in which they can relate - movies, books, music, media, theater, and creative arts. We do this because God is present in all types of communication and arts!
That's what The Oasis Church is all about. Not only are we passionate about the music and arts, but also our children and students. We believe them to be some of the greatest influencers of our church today and definitely the future leaders. We also treasure our seniors - they mentor us and give us the wisdom we need to stay on track with God's plan for our community.
Whatever your circumstances - single, married, single again, with or without children, retired - and no matter where you've been or what you've done, you matter to God and you will experience the difference here.
Our Vision
Our vision is simple.
Our weekend worship service is designed to connect you to God on an intimate level. We place a high priority on biblical teaching, engaging worship, and a friendly and welcoming atmosphere.
We also believe that people need to be connected with others, that no one should stand alone. We offer Life Groups designed to foster friendships with other people in a safe and caring environment.
We have a strong conviction that every follower of Christ should enjoy doing ministry. Connecting to ministry is vital for your spiritual growth, and you have the honor of impacting others. We offer ministry teams so you can serve alongside others.
Finally, we believe that God has given us a life message to share. As believers in God, we have become God's messengers and God chooses to speak to the world through us. Each of us has a personal story and God wants to use those stories to connect to the world.
