Did you know that The Oasis helped feed about 5,000 people this past Tuesday night?
We, (fourteen Oasis and youth group members), had the privilege to work with the Buist Community Assistance Center this past Tuesday to help prepare rice pilaf mixes. In about ninety minutes, the fourteen of us were able to package about 1000 mixes in plastic bags that included apply cooking instructions labels (which people only need to boil water and add the mix) and adding all the ingredients. Each plastic bag mix serves about five people. That is almost 5,000 people that can be helped!
"In all things I have shown you that by working hard in this way we must help the weak and remember the words of the Lord Jesus, how he himself said, 'It is more blessed to give than to receive.'" (Acts 20:35)

We are going to continue to assist the Buist Community Assistance Center in the future and it would be great to have others help. If you are interested, please let us know! Once we have the next event scheduled, we will be contacting people.
"Be sure to use the abilities God has given you ... Put these abilities to work." (1 Timothy 4:14-15)
The Oasis would like to thank everyone that was able to help out or drop off youth group members that night. It was an amazing experience and We are all looking forward to the next time we can help others.
The Oasis would like to invite everyone to join us on Christmas Eve at 5:00pm at the Grandville Banquet Center for service. Invite family, friends, and even neighbors for this is the time of year people are most likely to attend a church service. Pastor Charles has a great message lined up along with 16 band members to assist with the worship experience. We look forward to seeing everyone and we wish everyone a merry Christmas!
Let us not give up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but let us encourage one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching. - Book of Hebrews, Chapter 10, Verse 25 (NIV)
This weekend the kids were given a demonstration what sport stacking was and had an opportunity to try it themselves. Along with a few songs that were practiced for an upcoming holiday service in December, the kids were able to start leaning more about this sport.
Tim Haig, who is part of the Oasis arts ministry, holds two US records in the sport and his son Michael, age 4, holds a world record. This past week Tim started the kids with 6 cups which teaches them the basics while next week he will show them the 10 and 12 cup basics. Thanks Tim for working with the kids this week and I know they are all looking forward to the larger pyramids next Sunday!
This is just one activity that has been used at the Oasis to teach the kids about working with each other and small groups. We also use music, songs, and other arts to teach the word of God. Thanks again to Tim and Michael and if you are interesting in The Oasis you can either join us on Sunday morning for service or email us with questions.

I was on a small bike ride this morning along the express way and I took a picture with my phone to capture how foggy it was.

On the 5 mile path back home, this picture reminded me...
I will lead the blind by ways they have not known, along unfamiliar paths I will guide them; I will turn the darkness into light before them and make the rough places smooth. These are the things I will do; I will not forsake them. - Isaiah 42:16
